My artwork is now on display at Austin Books!! My stuff is completely covering their back wall in the back issue room, and I’ll be posting pictures of the show soon, but be sure to go check it out in person!
Since I have an art show coming up at the beginning of September, I figured it’s as good a time as any to make some new artwork! So here’s a 70s style poster of my first Black Coffee Jones movie (viewable here).
I know it’s not Friday but I couldn’t not post this:
Marvel revealed this combined poster (apparently made up of several covers from various upcoming Avengers and Avengers-related series) at C2E2 this weekend, and holy crap it’s awesome. Djurdjevic is definitely one of the best things to happen to Marvel in recent years, he’s akin to Alex Ross without all of the Silver Age wankery.
Starting today, I’ll be doing a weekly post of interesting things I found around online, the “Friday Bit of Awesome”.

I think these are brilliant, I love mashups (as you can see with my Imperial Saints series), and these are done with so much attention to detail, from the use of the various emblems and Aurabesh font to the exacting detail to make these look like authentic Japanese feudal art pieces.
Up next, Joss Whedon is directing The Avengers, as well as doing script rewrites/polishes. The fan reaction I’ve seen from this has been pretty positive, in between jokes about Fox cancelling it 2/3 of the way through, heh. I personally think it’s a good choice because A. Serenity had a large cast, but everyone got the spotlight at some point so no one really fell by the wayside, which is critical for the Avengers movie and B. Whedon is a huge comics fan, so you can be sure he’s going to be as true to the source material as possible and will (hopefully) ensure the best Avengers film we can get. He’s also apparently doing some script polishes for the upcoming The First Avenger: Captain America movie as well.
Lastly, TF2 meets Sam and Max:

I love Team Fortress 2 and I’ve loved Sam and Max since I was a kid, so it’s hilarious seeing the two combined like this. Valve is having a deal where if you order the new episode of Sam and Max within its first week of release (next week), you’ll get three Sam and Max-related items. Personally, the thought of a Heavy running around with a gleefully psychotic Max hat makes me happy inside.
