Ho-lee crap this looks insanely fun. And I’m pretty sure that’s the UT art building in a few of those shots, where I spent many a day working on stuff when I was in school. I can’t wait for this to come out!!!
Alright, so E3 was this week and there was definitely some sqee-worthy stuff to be had, namely:
Valve unveils the teaser for Portal 2! I’ve made no secret about my love for their incredibly clever Portal, and the fact that they’re releasing official details about it makes me that much more excited.
LucasArts also showed off the trailer for the Secret of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge Special Edition. Unfortunately the game won’t look quite as slick as this trailer (which would be thoroughly doable), but if the first Monkey Island SE is any indication, I’m sure it’ll be fantastic. Makes me want to go back and play Curse of Monkey Island again…
Not necessarily shown at E3 but still falling under the “awesome” category is the new international trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World:
This looks like an absurd amount of fun, it definitely looks like they made the right choice in choosing Edgar Wright to direct this.
One more thing, E3-related:
I do not care about Natal/Kinect/Move. I really don’t. Motion control is a fad, a fad that if declining Wii sales are any indication, is going away. Yeah it’s cool to be able to play games without a controller, but seriously, how do you expect to play the biggest games on the main two non-Wii consoles with motion control? Modern Warfare 2? Halo? Killzone? Uncharted? It’s a novelty, and nothing more. Kinda like the current trend of 3D movies. Plus Kinect is an extra $149 in addition to the price of the console and games. Really?
So I’ve been falling behind on my “bit of awesome” posts, I need to start doing them sooner than on the day of. Anyways, I was directed to the latest “I’m a Marvel and I’m a DC”, which makes a great (and hilarious) point about Marvel totally killing DC in terms of movies:
First off, Capcom and Marvel announce Marvel vs. Capcom 3!! I’ve only had a passing interest in fighting games (Street Fighter 2 as a kid, Tekken 3 and beyond as a teen/adult), but Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has been one of my enduring favorites because it features a bunch of my favorite superheroes rendered in a distinctive, fluid style. This time around it’s being done in a similar style as last year’s Street Fighter IV, so it’s 3D with a drawn, cartoony style.
Official teaser:
People are already speculating as to who’s going to be in it, based on teaser images (seen here), a lot of the characters from MvC2 will return, along with some new faces like Deadpool (yes!) and the Super Skrull. Here’s hoping they’ll include Thor.
Up next, these Lost-themed tarot cards have recently surfaced. Obviously each image has a special significance to that particular character, but the images and designs themselves are striking enough for the cards to stand well on their own:
Lastly, one of my favorite movies from 2009 was the incredibly brilliant blaxploitation parody Black Dynamite, and they just posted this scene on Facebook:
I’m about 95% done with the animation on my Black Coffee Jones vs. Pimpasaurus video, here are a couple of characters from it:
Only two weeks until Iron Man 2! As good as the first one was, I’m sure this one will be just as great if not better.
